Canva is a publishing and design tool with the mission of “Empowering the world to design.” It has its main offices in Australia, Beijing, and the Philippines.

On March 23rd, 2023, Canva held the second annual Create Canva live event. More than 100 million users attended this live-streaming event held in Sydney, Australia. 

Over the live stream, Canva announced new AI-powered features along with new features exclusively for the app.

Here are the features that were announced

Magic Design and Magic Presentation

Finding the right template which perfectly depicts the theme of the design can be frustrating. But with Magic Design, all you need to do is drag a picture or a video related to your theme, and templates that match the pictures and videos will be displayed to you. 

Draw (Whiteboard)

The ‘draw’ feature was recently added to Canva’s Whiteboard segment. With this feature, you can directly draw freehand on your image or design like you would on an actual whiteboard or paper. 

You now have the freedom to create any sketch or art you please with the help of 4 types of pens, an endless range of colors, etc. 

Text to Image

We have all been in situations where we have the exact keyword or phrase but just cannot find the right image that captures the keyword. 

Well, with the Text to Image feature on Canva, you need not worry. All you need to do is type in the word or phrase and the generated image will be presented. For instance, if you type “anime astronaut”, you will be shown images as shown in the image below.

Though this feature was introduced in 2022, it has now been upgraded with better image quality, resolution, and newer styles. 

Create Animations

With this new feature, you can now make any element of an image move along a certain path. You can adjust the motions and speed too. 

Magic Write and Translate

Canva’s Magic Write enables you to put your emotions into words. You can write about anything and everything in 21 languages ranging from poems to essays, to even summaries.

With Canva translate, you can translate texts into other languages. You are provided with 100 different language options from which you can choose.

2023 comes with endless possibilities
